How do we travel

  • 4 cars x 4 travellers in each.Driving 3-5 hours per day on the most scenic roads – among fjords and waterfalls.
  • We actively explore each location– hiking and kayaking, skydiving and caving – and keep special moments in personal Storybook.
  • In the evenings, we hang out together – cooking dinner, playing games, and sharing impressions of the day.

Storyline

Day 1-3

Oakland

We will spend the first evening in a city surrounded by 50 volcanoes. Auckland is called the City of Sails - it has the largest number of boats per capita in the world. We will walk around the harbor and climb the tallest building in New Zealand.

Waitomo Caves

In full equipment, we will go down into the cave and raft down the underground river on rubber tubes. In addition to stalactites and stalagmites, this dungeon is decorated with fireflies. Their bright lights are a spectacular way to attract insects... and speleo-tourists.)

Hobbiton Village

Let's visit the legendary Shire - a miniature village of hobbits, which was specially built for the filming of "The Lord of the Rings".

Hook waterfall

We will walk along the most powerful waterfall in New Zealand. Huka means foam in Maori. Although its cascade is only 6 meters high, the turquoise waters of the Waikato River turn white here. Such an onslaught is through a narrow 15-meter channel, into which a 100-meter river enters here.

Day 4-6

Biking on the Timber Trail

Let's go on a 2-day trip through the prehistoric forest. These trees saw both dinosaurs and all other heroes of past eras. 85 km of forest trails await us, with wooden bridges, mysterious thickets and an overnight stay in a forest campsite.

Visiting Maori

Welcome to the Maori settlement. It is one of the youngest cultures in the world. In the 13th century, they sailed from Eastern Polynesia in large canoes and discovered New Zealand. Although today their total population is less than a million, the Maori are known throughout the world for their traditional dances (tapa-haka), tattooing (ta-moko), as well as for the films and cartoons of recent decades.

On the road to Mordor

We will organize a 7-hour trekking through the Tongariro Nature Reserve. This is New Zealand's first national park in terms of age and popularity. It is a central location in most ancient Maori legends. And yes, it is here that the rugged and gloomy mountain of Orodruin rises, to which Frodo was on his way.

Rotorua Geysers Valley

We will see hot lakes, the "Artist's Palette" spring, fumaroles, mud pools and the Pohutu geyser, which emits steam to a height of 30 m.

Day 7-9

Interisland cruise

We will cross the Cook Strait by ferry - between the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea - and continue our journey on the South Island.

Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki

One of the main decorations of the South Island is its blue glacial lakes. We will have a picnic near one of them, and we will come to the second at night to look at the stars. The Church of the Good Shepherd near the lake is a popular location for "starglazing". Moreover, the constellations here are completely different!

Tandem skydiving

If you think that skydiving is too much for you, here is a New Year's opportunity to revise that judgment. Mount Cook National Park, altitude of the plane - 3000 or 4000 meters (your choice), pro-jumper behind you, below and around - one of the top landscapes in the world, and in the rest - a new story about yourself: "Tried skydiving in New Zealand".

Day 10-12

Hiking the Hooker Valley

Hooker Valley is recognized by many photographers and travel publications as the best track in the Southern Alps (yes, those Alps in Europe are the Northern). Snow-capped peaks, crystal lakes and trails that wind between this beauty - another cool walk in our trip.

Lake Wanaka

Will see #ThatWanakaTree

Dawn on Royce Peak

This peak has become as popular with tourists in recent years as the Norwegian Trolltunga. The same long line to take a solo selfie on the edge of the abyss. A simple life hack - we will go on this hike early in the morning to be at the top at dawn. It is less crowded and more photogenic. And the view from here is really worth it.

Day 13-14

Kayaking in Milford Sound

We row for several hours through the fjord - along 1 km tall green rocks, waterfalls and the top of Miter Peak in the rays of the morning sun.

Queenstown

We will spend the day in Queenstown, which is rightfully considered the Mecca of extreme sports - the world's first bungee jumping attraction is located here. And there are also many vineyards and a cool restaurant on the panoramic tower. We will mark the completion of the trip here and recall the highlights of these two weeks.

Who travels with us?

Our roadtrips are for nature enthusiasts who love an active outdoors, regardless of the weather. For those who are ready to go beyond their comfort zones for a new experience, new friendships and stories about themselves.

What are the physical requirements?

In addition to daily walks of several kilometers, this trip includes 3 hikes of moderate level – 4-5 and 8 hours with breaks.

What is the comfort level of the trip?

4 person per car, grouped by age and driving experience. The trunk is OK for hand luggage (backpacks or small suitcases). Accommodation is usually 4-person (cottages, apartments, guesthouses) with self-catering facilities. Sometimes there are 2-person rooms or hotel breakfasts for an extra charge. We usually have lunch in nature with lunch boxes, but sometimes we also go to cafes/restaurants when staying in civilization.

What stuff to take on a trip?

Durable and comfortable trekking boots, waterproof coat and pants, fleece jacket, shorts and sneakers, sun glasses and cream, hat, swim suit, small thermos, lunchbox and spoon.

Payment / Cancellation terms?

After making a reservation on the website, we'll provide logistics information via Whatsapp and request your ID photo for making contract. The advance payment can be made via bank transfer, the rest is OK to be paid in cash on the first day of the trip. In case of cancellation, depending on the time left to start, it may be possible to partially or fully save your deposit to use it on future travels with us.
